Welcome to Year 4

The Year 4 Staff

Our class teachers are Miss Reynolds (4LR) and Miss Kershaw (4HK). The teaching assistants supporting the Y4 children are Miss Andrews, Mrs Davidson, Miss Ellis, Mr Hensley and Miss Moore.

PPA is covered by Mr Jalloh in 4LP and by Mrs Harris in 4LR.

What our week looks like

During the Autumn term, P.E. lessons are on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Please come to school on these days wearing P.E kit and with earrings removed.   

This term, Year 4 are learning about Ancient Greece in History.  We will be looking at how their impact is still evident today.

Children are continuing to enjoy our OPaL lunchtime offer.  Please can they make sure to have wellies or old trainers, and waterproof trousers or old jogging bottoms in school each day so that they can make the most of all of the wonderful zones available.

Home learning

Each week, two homework tasks will be set to be completed in their CGP learning books.  These will be a combination of Maths, Reading and Grammar tasks and focused on current learning in school.  Tasks will be set on a Friday and due in the following Friday.

Children take home a school reading book, which they can change on a Monday and Thursday. Each week, children should aim to read their home reading book at least three times and parents/carers are asked to rewrite a comment in their home reading book.  Every child has a reading book mark with questions on it.  These questions are to support parents/carers in asking your child questions about what they have read. Children need to bring their reading book and reading record into school every day.  Children should also regularly practise their times tables by logging in to Times Table Rockstars with their individual log in details, which will be in their reading records.
